About Me
[After a work haitus, I'm back coaching starting September, 2024.]
Clients who choose me are drawn to responsible service, yet may struggle with unreasonable self-expectations and self-sabotage, often rooted in stressful childhoods. I specialize in helping clients manage/lower anxiety.
A coaching series can help you make leaps in understanding behaviors and beliefs, reduce anxiety, include more fun/self-care, build healthier routines, enhance relationships, be more effective at work, and pursue long-time dreams.
Coaching tools I use may be counter-intuitive and often not yet widely known: Motivational Interviewing, nervous system-informed/somatic resilience, Family Systems Theory, Co-Active Coaching, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, interfaith chaplaincy (2,800 hours of clinical training/work with veterans), mindfulness science and practices, participant-centered education (I received an MDiv and completed teacher training at Harvard), work as a crisis counselor and trainer in the interpersonal violence field, and knowledge of the MBTI and Enneagram personality systems. I’m a member of the International Association of Coaching.
My approach is three-fold:
- Build insights and reframe unhelpful beliefs (head).
- Tune into deep heart-based aspirations and values; learn how to lower anxiety (heart).
- Identify and take doable, empowering action steps between sessions, reflect, then refine (hands).
- For those interested, we can discuss how spirituality and beliefs inform your personal goals and self-talk.
In coaching, you get a safe place to discuss what you're feeling and thinking and explore new behaviors - all with compassionate listening. I'm skilled in working with men and women.
For clients considering a 10-session series, I offer a free discovery call of 30-minutes with no obligation. This allows us to see if coaching together feels right. Coaching is by phone or video Skype. Please call or email me today.

Even though Raz and I come from two different cultural backgrounds (I am both Arab and Muslim), I have never once felt that she was judging me or my values. Raz is extremely comfortable to speak with and is very mindful as she directs our conversations and has something to bring to my attention. When I first spoke to Raz, there was a sense of calm about her where I knew immediately that I wanted to take a chance and do these sessions with her (knowing very well that I am a very private person and I do not trust easily). There was something about her; her tone and her sensitivity made me take to her very quickly and allowed me to let my guard down faster than I imagined. When deciding how these sessions work, Raz gave me her offers regarding the number of sessions, and she said that it is probably around the tenth session that one starts to sense a change in themselves. I am so glad that I trusted her judgement and took a leap of faith, because it was probably around my eleventh session with her that I started to have certain epiphanies about myself that still had not occurred to me around our fifth or sixth session. I began to feel positive and happy after every one of our talks, and it was then that I realized that she and I were meant to meet, and she was meant to be part of my empowered journey in this thing called life. Not only is Raz sensitive to her client’s situations, she is intuitive and seems to have a lot of experience in her line of work. Even though she is mindful, it does not stop her from speaking up and suggesting what she believes will be helpful to me. She is passionate about her work, and most importantly, I feel that Raz genuinely wants me to be the best version of myself and to succeed. When I throw a curve ball her way she is always present. She offers me extra readings where she knows I will benefit, and I cannot thank her enough. Raz has given me very practical tools to help me in my day to day struggles, and some of the things we have spoken about have been so enlightening that that they have changed aspects in my life I assumed were set in stone. Without these sessions with Raz, there are certain things I would not have thought of and probably still would have viewed as being one-dimensional. This testimonial is my thank you to her for the support she has given me as well as an invitation to anyone who is looking to better themselves or parts of themselves they thought were resistant to change. If you are looking to transform the course of your life even in the smallest ways, Raz is the person to take this journey with. Her positive attitude and energy is infectious, but you have to be an honest, willing, and dedicated participant. (View this testimonial on Yelp)

Raz has been both a calm voice and a guiding hand in helping me overcome obstacles real and imagined as I've worked toward my goal of becoming a full-time foreign correspondent. She not only has given me enormous insight on how to reframe and overcome everyday anxiety, but offers practical solutions to real-world problems. She has also helped me to become a better husband. Our appointments have been paramount in helping me achieve the personal and professional goals that I have set for myself.

As a writer, I should be able to testify to Raz Mason's gifts easily. And yet I find myself searching for ways to describe her supportive, insightful, gentle ability to lead me out of myself into full consciousness of who I am and what I want to be. Sometimes I wonder if she is somehow tuned in to parts of my subconscious mind that I have tuned out. She often makes a quiet suggestion or rephrases something I've said about myself in terms so positive I have to think, "Yes, she's right. That's really me. I don't have to apologize for me!" I love it when she gives me a homework assignment because it always involves doing something good and positive for myself. You would think that having lived two-thirds of my life already, I would be in the habit of doing this all the time. But I'm not. Thanks to Raz, I'm getting in the habit of it. Often she comments on how animated my eyes and face have become when I start talking about something I love more than I knew I loved, and I think, "That's right! I love that! Why am I not allowing myself to pursue it?" In just the few months I have been working with Raz, I have experienced great inner change. Good things are flowing my way--people, opportunities, challenges, achievements--that I never would have imagined. I wake up eager to consume the goodness of my day. Thank you, Raz.

Between dealing with the stress of work and finishing my graduate degree in math, and dealing with the transition to a new career and phase of my life, the anxiety I feel can be overwhelming. Raz is such an amazing listener, and talking to her helped me figure out how I can plan for these changes. I think when I'm taking action instead of just worrying about a problem, this really reduces the stress. I feel so lucky to have met Raz! (Yelp review)

I first started working with Raz Mason one year ago, before I took the plunge and went full-time on my start-up. Raz has coached me through difficult decision-making, role played with me to prepare me for courageous conversations, and helped me navigate the dynamics of my relationship with my co-founder. I am a quick-thinker and prolific. She is skilled at getting to the root of the issue and addressing it. She is sharp and direct, in a way that allows us to go deep quickly. I am learning to navigate new waters, as a startup founder. Being able to work with Raz is a true gift. A gift of someone who is able to guide and empower me and make the path feel a bit less unknown. When we first started working together, Raz suggested a resource to address a family dynamic/relationship issue that had been plaguing me for years. Reading that book and learning how to address those dynamics have significantly changed my life for the better. Raz is empathic, warm, a true pleasure to work with and someone whom I highly recommend, particularly to young entrepreneurs.

I felt like a mess before I began working with Raz Mason. So many things in my life felt like they were unraveling and I didn’t know how to step back, gain perspective and learn how to pull it together to “get off the treadmill” I felt I was on. Raz had a wonderful way of helping me stop and see the root cause of some of the issues, put things in perspective and help me to make sense out of the chaos that I was causing in myself. I feel I handle the challenges of everyday life with much less panic and freneticism than before. Thank you Raz for helping me find peace and understand how to calm the storms inside of me.

With Raz's assistance, I have been able to reshape my perspective on life stressors and embrace a new way to approach anxiety. As a medical professional, I must learn how to effectively balance the expectations of my career and patients with those of my personal and family life. Having someone like Raz to teach me how to optimistically face these challenges has proven to be beneficial.

Meeting Raz has changed my life! Thanks to her coaching and guidance, I've become a better wife and mother. With every session, I became more self-aware and increasingly driven to pursue my goals. Raz has an amazing gift for coaching. She is a keenly empathetic listener who offers powerful tools for change and personal development. I am a better person today, thanks to Raz and I recommend her unconditionally. Raz is a beacon of light and a pillar of strength! Thanks, Raz!!

Raz helped me overcome my fear of cold-calling (which was holding me back from growing my business) by helping to reframe my activity into something positive, and having me recall times that I had overcome other activities that I had initially thought impossible. She also had me remember what makes me passionate about my business. As a result, I've renewed my sales activities and have started getting some meetings! I highly recommend Raz for her ability to get to the bottom of what is causing a roadblock, and to provide measurable, actionable advice on how to move forward.

Raz Mason has a diverse set of skills, education, and training that set her apart from other coaches. Her ministerial training and her work with war veterans and survivors of domestic violence bring a foundation of sensitivity and strength that sees the big picture, looks on situations with deep compassion and empathy, and discerns the opening in another's process, where they can take the next step. Working with Raz feels like an empowerment process, where she creates the space for my growth and development -- shall we say, my magnificence? -- and through thoughtful mirroring and questioning, she moves me through barriers in my subconscious mind into a place where I find a new confidence and understanding of my own strength and power. Raz stays unruffled when I share my secrets and mis-takes, remaining present to what's next for moving past them in my personal and spiritual development. Through coaching by Raz I continue to feel stronger, more resilient, and more confident in the future I am creating for myself.

Raz came to my rescue at the perfect time! She was understanding and helped to guide me through my emotions to realize my goals and the steps I needed to take to get to where I wanted to be. She also was a great person to recognize when I was not giving myself enough credit and held me accountable for my misconceptions of myself helping me to see the strengths where I saw weakness. Raz guided me through my thought processes opening my mind to different views of the problems and helped me to think more creatively to find solutions. I am on the west coast and she is on the east so we Skyped. This worked great! So if you have a crazy schedule and can't get to her Skyping is a great solution. Her online appointment setter is very helpful and convenient. If you are looking for a compassionate, open minded, caring, thoughtful, insightful life coach Raz Mason is the person you need. I always felt so much better after speaking with her. She was the ladder out of my hole.

I look forward to our phone calls and find myself making notes during the week of topics to discuss. Her inspiration, encouragement and candid feedback lift and energize me for the coming week. I have known and worked with Raz for almost 2 years. She is a marvelous coach and I would highly recommend her. I have first hand knowledge of her coaching skills which are top of the line.

I have found Raz to be an insightful, perceptive listening ear. She is able to highlight particular areas I discuss that may need further discernment or thought on my part. She is also optimistic and positive in her approach that encourages new ways to look at a situation.

The season of my life that you helped me through was extremely difficult. I doubt I would've had the strength alone to emerge from it with a full time job, a peaceful home, and a future plan; and although I was struggling to maintain you helped me flourish. You will never know the depth of all my gratitude. I plan to have more sessions with you in the future.
