I come from quite a small town and I was the first person in my family to go to university. It wasn't easy for me to know how to be successful because I didn't have anyone at home to learn from. It was great to have someone with knowledge and experience tell me I was good enough and that the only things I was really missing were confidence and direction. Bernie always said that whatever success I have is my own because I worked for it and that's true but he also helped me to make progress I've been happy with and have balance in my life.

I got a lot of benefits from coaching with Bernard at a very important and difficult time. Working for a big software company as a foreigner during Covid I now see I was very close to burnout before I started getting the coaching. The main areas he helped me with were time management, balancing my workload and being more assertive. I was quite isolated at that time because of the international situation and I was throwing everything into my work. But I was also trying to do other people's work as a team leader and that was overwhelming. I didn't have a problem delegating but I had a problem being heard when people weren't delivering the standard of work they should have. Sometimes it seemed easier to do their work instead of constantly going back for them to improve it and that was hurting my own performance as well as making me extremely tired and stressed. Bernard helped me to see that I had to slow down and allow time for rest but also he helped me to be assertive and to not feel guilty about making others accountable for their own performance. We worked on clear direct communication, making sure everyone in the team knew their responsibilities and that there were procedures to follow. We also worked on prioritising and finding time for recreation, making friends and resting. These things made a big difference to me. I'm more effective in work and I've learned how to take more responsibility without risking burnout or letting work dominate my entire life. Bernard's knowledge and understanding of workplace practices was extremely important to me and I would recommend him to anyone.

I am happy to recommend Bernie and my experience has been very positive. Bernie was recommended to me by a friend and I am very happy with my decision. I had always worked hard to get a good degree but I wasnt getting the opportunities or career rewards I thought I deserved. From talking with Bernie, I got great feedback that gave me a lot more confidence and i realised I had been shy to ask for more from the company I worked for. I had been waiting to be recognised and rewarded but that wasnt coming and I decided to look for another job. Some of our sessions were based on quite simple things to get me moving and organised, like Smart goals and the Eisenhower matrix and they helped a lot to keep me focused. I found a job that fits me much better with a much higher salary than before and I have been promoted. Some of the most helpful things Bernie did were just listening and helping me to work out why I wasnt getting what I wanted. I also always felt respected which I appreciate a lot. I am very happy I worked with Bernie and I am pleased to recommend him.
