What is a life coach, what a life coach does, why I needed one and how I can help you. Is it a trend or does it really work?
We live in a society which functions at the speed of light. 24 hours a day we are bombarded by world class entertainment, shopping malls, air-conditioning, delicious food, available lightning speed wifi and people. We move so fast we often forget to breathe.
Life Coaching in Singapore is a much needed practice. Why?
We move so fast that we forget why we decided to move in the first place.
How many of you can remember what you did yesterday, last week and 2 weeks before that, without checking up on social media? Its the constant struggle to be number 1. We have to. To be the best in what you do, have the latest in technology, the most expensive car, house, bottle of wine. Whatever you choose, it must be the best because you don’t want to lose.
Thats what second place is for, right?
Why are we doing this in the first place? Why are you workings so hard everyday to earn your million dollars? What do you want to do with it?
Are you simply ’just surviving?"
or
Are you creating something meaningful.
Even my own father does not ask me how I am. First question or the one which inevitably comes before all others is, how is business? Are you making enough money? In Asia we judge someones worth by the size of his bank account. And why not? Money is a wonderful tool. I love it. Its just that we forget its only a tool; a vehicle for us to use to do something.
What does all this have to do with life coach, life coaching and life coaching in Singapore?
Absolutely everything.
The day I decided to scatter it all away to the wind and start travelling was the scariest day of my life and the day my freedom started. My mini retirement and decision to try something which scared the hell out of me and was something which I always dreamed about.
35 years of dreaming the same dream is a long time.
Work remotely, from anywhere I want too. My favourite location is still the beach, there’s nothing like wearing only board shorts as a uniform (no shirts, no shoes) and jumping int the ocean to cool off when things get heated.
To travel the world endlessly ( or as long as life allows me), exchanging countries every 3 months. Its a dream to wake up whenever I want to and work when I want to.
Sounds great?
It is and it has its constant challenges. My dearest friends are FAR away and living in another world and no one understands how that can be challenging. Why I do not want to get married and settle down?. Can you imagine constantly looking for a new hotel every few days constantly for 1 year? Its gets exhausting and it is my least favourite part.
Working for myself is great, except; when I don’t work and go on vacation or get sick. It comes from my own pocket. I still have the get my work done.

Like I said, theres good days, really good days. Theres also bad days and really bad days when I can’t get out of bed. I don’t want to face another day of uncertainty. Still…I would not give any of this up for the freedom I received by taking a chance.
TO WIND IT UP
It started with a very difficult conversation with a life coach who asked me simple questions which I avoided and allowed me to ponder on my answers. He gently opened my heart and breathed fresh wind into it. By allowing me to start dreaming realistically, we started on a plan for making things concrete. I worked hard organising everything, quitting my very comfortable and enjoyable life/job – I sold natural organic wine for a living. If you like to eat, drink and party, you imagine a better career doing this. Working a few hours a week, automating the rest of it. My hardest work is meeting clients to have drinks I did not have to pay for. And I love natural interesting wine. I lived my passion (and still do).
Plunging into the unknown was shit scary. I have had multiple nervous breakdowns along the way and got up everytime. Theres a certain strength which arrives on doing things which make you feel uncomfortable. Maybe its the dopamine and my serotonin receptors having a field day. Being coached in life, by someone who cares about you, a parent doesn’t always count as they (mine) are more interested in telling you what to do, not asking you:
What do you want to do
Thats the key question a life coach asks. What do you want to do?
Life coaching is not for the faint of heart, its scary and you will find yourself confronted by a lot of things you’ve stuffed in the closet for a long time. Its when you open the door and have a look inside that you find your strength and confidence again.

Whether you are at home, lounging on your couch, hiding in your bedroom (too afraid or lazy to step out), in your pyjamas, walking on the beach, at work or on your lunch break.

I have been working with numerous clients and especially on myself. If you want to manage people, learn to manage yourself first. This is what this 10 months has been about. Learning how my operating system works and upgrading it every single day. A year ago inanely knew how to make cocktails and talk about wine. Today I am a professional life coach, learnt how to speak German, SEO optimisation specialist, Content write, creator and marketer and have been travelling around the world.
It took me a long time to admit that, even to myself.
