Running a start up business is a long, difficult road. Just like the 162 game Major League Baseball season. Find out the 7 ways they compare...
It’s OPENING DAY!
Every opening day I get overly excited and tell my wife I have to BBQ with a beer in my hand with the game on in the background. Then the love slowly starts to fade and I have to remind myself to stick with it through the ups and downs of what I know will be a long, arduous season. It’s like running a start-up business…
1. Every organization has an analytics department on the cusp of “changing the game forever”.
2. The leader constantly talks about overcoming adversity even though you know the adversity never ends.
3. You can lose the first 30 games of the season and still be successful at the end.
4. There is no salary cap and always seems to be Yankees team with an endless supply of money.
5. Its super exciting when it starts but you have to find ways to prevail through the other 161 games to have a chance to be successful.
6. Most of the general public only support you when you are winning.
7. Everyone “celebrates” (cough is jealous) about the big contracts but seem to forget that for years you had to ride a hot bus through the small towns of America and play in front of 50 people just to get a chance to play on the big stage.
