Coaching, what to expect

Have you ever wondered what a life coach is and what you can expect from a coaching relationship?
When I decided to pursue a career in life coaching I had a lot of explaining to do as it’s a field that is unfamiliar to most people. I had to educate my family and friends on what a life coach is, and then explain the process that a client goes through during sessions. Having a professional life coach myself I used my success from that relationship to show the value of this career move to those around me.
I think it’s safe to assume that we all grew up with some kind of coach influence in our lives. For me it was athletic coaching in softball and tennis. Think back to the time in your life when you had a daily/weekly interaction with a coach. What did you gain from that relationship? That coach was a subject matter expert that provided you with specialized training, tips, and guidance on how to grow your skills. However, that wasn’t their only responsibility; they also helped you set performance targets, maintain motivation, and analyzed your personal performance. Your coach spent a majority of the time helping you train mentality as well as physically.
Life coaches can provide you the same guidance to help you get results in your personal life as well as help you in other areas like; career, relationships, health, fitness, wellness, and spirituality. Enhancing your personal development is what you can expect to get from a life coach. This is all done by having powerful conversations with your coach. You’re probably thinking to yourself, “I have conversations all the time with my friends and family about my hopes and dreams”. You might not want to hear this, but there is a huge difference between those conversations and the ones you will have with your life coach.
Coaching is a powerful tool, during the sessions both you and your coach are laser focused on the goals you laid out in your coaching plan and your progress in achieving those goals. How are these conversations with your coach much different than the ones you have every day? Your coach will ask you a series of open-ended questions that will shine a light into deep areas of your mind and bring self-awareness to your thoughts. You will begin to think and see things in a more balanced way.
During your sessions, your coach will reveal how you view things, what inspires you, what are your values, as well as what issues may be blocking your success. Through the use of powerful questioning, together you will develop the right exercises and action plans to help you achieve your goals.
If you want to get more from your life and are looking for concrete action steps to get there, then set up a complimentary 30-minute call to learn more about me and see if coaching is right for you. During this session, we will evaluate if a working relationship between us would be beneficial to you and discuss how we would work together moving forward.
