Am I really well or do I have a mask of wellness that I wear always!

So many times, when people ask you "how are you?" and you sheepishly say "I am fine". Can we be honest with self? Are we really well?
Too many times, we wear a happy mask around. Just like the clown in a circus. It has become a little habitual to say “I am fine” in response to “how are you?”. Why can’t we change our words. After all, no one is interested in finding the answer.
Since birth, we are asked to hide our feelings. We do not let go of our guard which has been held so high. So much so, that we have forgotten for example to cry for the right reasons. Crying is body’s mechanism to flush out emotions. Its body’s way of cleaning itself. Yet, so much emphasis is laid on not crying (especially men), that it manifests itself physically as diseases. Its a hard price to pay for something that’s so natural.
Time has come to ask self; till when would I wear my mask? Can I not express myself? or is there no one in this world, who can understand what I am going through?
As a coach, I have always asked my clients to express themselves fully, without hindrance, even if it means to have an emotionally charged room. Reason, we can achieve results only when the clients talk through their problems and come out with their emotions. Clients feels light enough to express what he really wants and that’s when we can progress together. The client starts feeling well and actually enjoys the entire process
So my question to you is.. do you still want to continue hiding your emotions or do you want go out and find someone who can understand you deeper?
