When you find your passion, you gain clarity and regain direction in your career and life. It's never too late to begin the journey.
Being career-driven works for many professionals through mid-career, 30s and 40s.
You work hard, achieve, advance, and repeat this process again and again. Until one day, this formula doesn’t work for you anymore.
If you’re noticing something is different. Your life on paper looks great – a great position at a well-known company in your industry, and you’re paid well too. Yet something’s missing. You’re not happy and feel like there’s a greater capacity within you that hasn’t been unleashed.
FINDING PASSION
When we find our passion, we know what we love. Yet, it’s not enough to simply find your passion. When we work within our passion, we connect work to what’s meaningful. It’s through this self-discovery we also find our purpose too.
We have passion when it doesn’t matter how long something takes. We have passion when we show up in the pouring rain because we want to be there. We have passion when we even the thought of something makes us light up or brings out your best.
3 REASONS TO FIND YOUR PASSION
1. Life feels grey, colorless – If you’re feeling bored in your career, finding passion is like painting with bolder strokes and in many colors. You have every day to look forward to because you’re working on what’s important.
2. You daydream more often – “What if” your career was different? “What if” you loved the work you do? Daydreaming is your mind’s way of testing out the ideas and inspiration out. Being distracted by sudden thoughts of doing something different is preparing for change.
3. You question if you’re on the right path – Second-guessing and delaying big decisions to make a change is an uncomfortable place to be. When you find your passion and purpose, you design a life with no regrets. You are aligned to what you really want and can make decisions that support the direction you want your career to take next.
For some things in life, there isn’t one step to get you from here to where you want to go. It’s a series of small steps and choices. Every time you take a step, you bring your future forward. You live a life authentic to what you value.
Finding your passion means finding yourself – your values, what’s important, and alignment. It doesn’t matter if you’re mid-career or at another point in your career. It’s never too late to ask the tough questions and gain clarity.
Clients ask me, “Am I on the right path?” If you’re asking yourself that question, you’re on the “right path” the moment you ask yourself that question.
What do you want to try?
