Planning

Take control of your life, Plan
Instead of always responding to issues and problems, take time each day to plan. Planning can take all kinds of shapes. Long-term planning, short term goals, daily planning, even planning what you will do in the next hour. If you don’t take the time to plan, you will never be in control of your work.
As part of your planning, make checklists of what you want to accomplish. If you don’t write it down in a checklist, it is too easy to forget something or get busy doing something that isn’t really a priority. Even in surgery rooms, where you would think everyone should know what they are doing, use checklists. These are some of the best trained professionals and they take a moment to plan before they actually do their work. Why would you think you are any more skilled than a surgery team.
People don’t plan to fail, they fail to plan. This one step can be the difference between being successful and not.
