Throughout my fifteen-year career, I’ve discovered two vital elements for success: selling yourself and building relationships. These skills have played a crucial role in my own achievements, and I highly recommend young people, particularly those with aspirations of becoming entrepreneurs, to focus on developing them. It’s essential to ensure that your voice is heard, whether you’re expressing your thoughts as a student or a professional.
Practice Makes it Perfect
However, becoming skilled at expressing yourself clearly takes practice, and sometimes you have to go through difficult experiences to discover who you truly are. How we use our body language and tone of voice also plays a role in how others perceive us, whether they are people we work with or people we interact with outside of work.
The Impact
Studies indicate that the first twenty words or initial 30 seconds of an interaction can have a significant impact. It’s up to you to make the most of these moments. Words possess great power to persuade, influence, and motivate others. They serve as a means to convey thoughts, share information, accomplish tasks, and foster relationships. Furthermore, words play a pivotal role in diplomacy by conveying messages, building trust, resolving conflicts, and preserving relationships.
let’s look at what happened in Europe after the two World Wars. The continent was devastated, but through communication and dialogue, European countries achieved peace and opened their borders. We’ve seen similar situations in the Middle East as well. Have you ever wondered how these actions are carried out? Governments rely on professional diplomats to engage and communicate with other countries.
Next Steps
Artfully marketing yourself is a valuable skill that can contribute to your career success. Entrepreneurs often ask me how to promote their company’s products or services. The answer lies in developing "soft skills.” These skills are unconsciously utilized in our daily lives, from the moment we wake up until we go to bed. Soft skills enable us to interact with colleagues, communicate with strangers, and handle personal and professional matters. They are particularly essential when maintaining professionalism in challenging situations.
