Hate writing cover letters every time? Here is our template suggestion for writing a cover letter that is transferable across various applications
We at Ways Around Life are not a fan of cover letters, however we understand why companies with high volumes of CVs incoming see value in them. They provide a snapshot of a candidate, and the quality of a cover letter may be the difference between recruiters moving onto the CV or simply moving onto the next candidate. Here is our template suggestion for writing a cover letter that is transferable across various applications:
Pillar 1: A bit about you
Example:
“Thank you for your consideration.
My name is Jane and I am an accounting analyst working in Banks, Ltd, Dublin. I am currently seeking new opportunities and challenges within my sector in order to further grow and develop my career. As I am open to relocation, I saw this job opening at Tellers Ltd, Galway and would love to be considered for the role!”
Pillar 2: A Nod to the Company
Here, it’s good to have researched the company and where they place value. You can gage this from their website primarily, gaining insights into their company work culture, environment and customer value propositions. Check out news about the company too if applicable – this will show you’ve moved outside the website in your research and consideration for the role.
Example:
“I’ve been following Tellers Ltd and their achievements for some time now and was delighted to see they’ve launched their new T-Pad 2020. It’s a testament to their team and their drive for customer satisfaction, even during such challenging times. Teller’s focus on goal orientation, teamwork and above all else the customer mirrors the values I place on the quality of work I always try to deliver, which is why I applied for this role to move into the next stages of my career.”
Pillar 3: Closing statement
Example:
“Please see attached my resume for your review. If you have any further questions regarding my application, don’t hesitate to contact me on the number provided. In the meantime, have a great day and I hope to hear from you soon.
Kind Regards,”
