Generally, it is presumed that the outcome of our labor is a specific product. This may entail a tangible object, such as a chair fashioned by an artisan or something intangible like an agreement reached with a client or the enhanced knowledge and skills that students gain from their teachers.
It appears that if you produce merchandise, everything should be satisfactory and you are fulfilling your duties appropriately. However, in reality, the most significant value lies not in the work itself but rather in scrutinizing your work routine. When you take time to pose questions to yourself which do not arise when going through your daily tasks automatically; this process allows for examining familiar things with fresh eyes and enhancing them.
This intellectual exercise holds greater importance because it enables one to establish a working strategy, optimize routines and channel efforts towards more productive outcomes. There is no special secret to achieving this feat: schedule brainstorming sessions once every week or month. If there’s any area where you feel sluggishness creeping up on you unexpectedly – organize impromptu brainstorming sessions too! Even when everything seems well-oiled within your profession/occupation/field of expertise – still conduct these sessions regularly since, firstly, smooth sailing can sometimes be deceptive and, secondly, there’s always room for improvement. Initially, thinking critically might prove challenging but over time it becomes easier.
