What’s NLP?

In this short article, I explain what NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) is, what makes it so powerful and how it can help you.
-What’s NLP?
NLP stands for Neuro-linguistic programming. Is an approach to communication, psychotherapy, and personal development developed in 1970 by Richard Bandler and John Grinder.
In other words, “Neuro“ is about the mind, and “Linguistic“is about language. Putting those together means NLP is about the language of the mind, or in other words, the way we think.
The “Programming“ part of NLP then refers to systems and habits, and specifically, the systems of thinking. Putting it all together then, NLP is basically about how the mind works, and how to use that knowledge to make positive changes in life.
During an NLP session, I incorporate a set of language- and sensory-based interventions and behavior-modification techniques intended to help you improve your self-awareness, confidence, communication skills, and social actions. The goal of NLP is to help you understand that the way you view the world affects your decision-making, and how your decisions affect the possible outcomes.
-What makes NLP so powerful?
What makes NLP so powerful is the number of techniques within it to help create positive change.
The first ones were developed in the ’70s by the best therapists who studied experts in their own fields to understand how they achieved their phenomenal results. By studying their strategies and finding the patterns that worked, we can all learn how to apply them to the areas in our lives that we want to excel.
NLP continues to add hundreds of techniques over the years to help people grow and evolve with incredible success. These are the techniques I use during my coaching sessions.
-How does NLP work?
NLP is intended for my clients to understand their own minds, how they came to think and behave the way they do, and to learn to manage their moods and emotions and reprogram the way they process information so that it leads to more acceptable and successful behavior. At the same time, NLP is designed to help my clients see ways they have been successful in the past and determine how they can most easily and efficiently repeat that success in other areas of their lives. As an NLP professional, I believe that you have the answers to your problems within yourself; it is simply a matter of helping you draw out those answers.
-What is NLP Coaching Helpful For?
To keep it short, NLP is a powerful way to create more of something you want or less of something you don’t. Here are some examples of things an NLP coach online can help with:
-Overcome limiting beliefs and take their life to a whole next level.
-Break bad & self-destructive habits.
-Implement empowering, and productive habits and routines.
-Improve communication skills, including conflict resolution; persuasion; negotiation.
-Increase one’s influence and impact on others (leadership/management skills).
-Develop a higher Emotional Intelligence (EQ).
-Decrease negative emotions; dissolve feeling associated with the past.
-Increase positive emotions; boost happiness and confidence.
