About Me
I coach professionals whose careers are not going according to plan, teens agonizing over what college will make their dreams come true, and parents battling to keep the family whole while trying to maintain work-life balance. You ever wonder (in the office) what you’re doing there, or why greater profits aren’t materializing? What happened to time for your spouse, friends, or yourself?
Fulfillment and joy elude you when your professional or personal life choices are not in alignment with your purpose. Why continue in a boring or frustrating career? You do not have to accept the premature decline in your physical fitness, or moods that destroy your peace of mind, or the many forces threatening to pull family and friendships apart. I help you design a true life vision and implement proven strategies to make it happen. My clients report greater health, confidence, happiness, major turning points, and financial savings.
I earned two masters degrees and a teaching credential and have 25+ years' experience teaching, coaching, counseling, and mentoring hundreds of students, young professionals, and parents. My professional coach training at the respected Coach University, is supported by my background teaching across multiple disciplines at public and private schools and at UCSB. I served three years in the Army's 82nd Airborne Division, where I learned the power of setting clear objectives, eliminating obstacles, and accomplishing the mission. During my enlistment I had the unique privilege to train and share quarters with men from most of the fifty states, Puerto Rico, and Canada, gaining a keen understanding of people’s motivations, dreams, and capabilities. As a native German, I also bring to coaching a blend of Old and New World traditions and multi-cultural perspective. My wife and I raised two trilingual daughters who have excelled through college and in their professions. I am the author of two novels and am fortunate to live in beautiful coastal Maine

After a few months of working with Steve, I have gained a new sense of self-confidence and understanding as well as new ways of accessing the stressors in my life. These had impacted my academics, work, and personal life. I have now nearly eradicated procrastination from my life. This has been done through targeting a specific issue and implementing new skills that allow me to face potential future matters confidently: I was scheduled to take an Advanced Placement test, which was both my first AP exam and one of the most demanding ones. I had been reviewing and studying exhaustively, until I reached a point of diminishing returns and even began losing any retention strategies and information I had gained up to that point. My conversations with Steve gave me the space to identify a concrete goal (eliminating procrastination from my studying). Steve, having gained a profound understanding of me as a person, offered a simple concept—taking a day off and focusing on myself. While this seemed like a step in the wrong direction, I soon realized how unfathomably beneficial this would be. This was not a rigid and inflexible approach to a recurring issue. It was a strategy that ultimately brought success. I have also gained a new confidence in my relationship with my employer. I was having trouble communicating specific needs to my boss, finding myself both overthinking potential reactions and overestimating the amount of chaos that my position might cause. As a result of my conversations with Steve, I gained a fresh perspective that allowed me to proceed in a professional manner while satisfying my needs and causing no problems at all.

I knew for years that I had some bad habits, but I just couldnt seem to kick them. Until I met Steve. He gave me the space to think differently, identify how my actions were getting in my way and impeding my progress. The outcome? I not only kicked those habits, but also created some new ones that I've stuck to, resulting in a happier, healthier me. If you are feeling stuck, get in touch with Steve and you'll soon be moving forward.
