About Me

Dan Freehling (he/him) is a leadership and career coach, the author of The Career Design Map, and the founder of Contempus Leadership.

He works with fellow rising leaders directly and through forward-looking organizations seeking to develop their leadership pipeline.

Dan is "all in" with his clients and operates on an almost unheard-of model of virtually unlimited coaching for a transparent monthly rate. This is only possible because he works exclusively with highly capable and inspiring leaders.

Dan's clients are already accomplished and know they need true partnership, not paternalistic advice.

Prior to founding Contempus Leadership, Dan led highly rated, multimillion-dollar leadership and organizational development contracts for federal clients and oversaw a flagship worldwide coaching program.

Dan has earned both an MA in Organizational Leadership and Learning from the George Washington University and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. While at GW, Dan conducted independent research on state-of-the-art leadership theory and practice. He is the author of the book The Career Design Map.

Dan is an International Coaching Federation (ICF) certified coach, having demonstrated the rigorous training, experience, performance, and knowledge standards required by the leading coaching credentialing organization. Dan also holds a Coaching Certificate from the Association for Talent Development (ATD) and has graduated from Coach U’s Core Essentials program.

Now residing in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood, Dan has called Boston, Washington, DC, and New York City home over the past decade. In addition to his obsession with all things leadership, he enjoys entertaining friends and family (learning to cook from his Sicilian grandmother didn’t hurt), taking long walks with an iced coffee in hand, and exploring Boston’s dining scene with his wife, Heather.
