How to Prepare for your Noomii Audio Interview
This probably doesn’t come as surprise to you but the coaches that get the best results on Noomii, tend to have the best interviews as well.
So here’s what we suggest you do to prepare:
-
Make your profile as good as possible
-
Listen to some other interviews
-
Know what’s going to happen during the interview call
1. Make your profile as good as possible
When you first signed up for Noomii, you likely checked out the Getting Started page which has a bunch of information on how to improve your profile. So you might be wondering why we’re emphasizing the importance of having a good profile again.
The reason is that the best coaches know their stuff. They understand who they are, their clients’ needs, and how they are different from other coaches. Once that work is done, writing and speaking about it becomes much easier.
If you haven’t already, take the time to watch the videos and check out the blog posts on the Getting Started page.
2. Listen to some other interviews
Listen to this interview to get a better understanding of what to expect.
3. Know what’s going to happen during the call
At the appointment time, we will call you on the phone number or Skype ID you provided when you scheduled your appointment. We prefer to use Skype to get better sound quality so please be at your computer and have Skype turned on before the call. If you do not use Skype, that is okay, we will call you on the phone number you provide. Test your audio equipment before the call to make sure that it’s working.
Can’t make it? If you need to cancel or change your scheduled appointment, you can easily do so through our online calendar. Please click on the link that you would have received via email confirming your appointment or in the calendar event that was added to your calendar.
We aim for the recorded interviews need to be around 3-5 minutes in length. We generally record the interview in one take. Once it’s recorded, we edit it for sound quality, cut out any obvious mistakes and then upload it to your profile.
During the interview, we will cover four main topics:
-
Your ideal client
-
Your process
-
client outcomes/feedback
-
Your background/training and how you got into coaching
Keep these key points in mind:
-
You’re the expert on you. The interview will be like you’re having a cup of coffee chatting with a friend who’s curious about your work. No sweat. You’ll be great.
-
This is an audio only recording, we do not record video, so feel free to stay in your pajamas.
-
We usually record the interview in one take. If you stumble over a word or two, just keep going. Our audio editor will cut out the undesirable parts.
-
Try to keep a consistent message between your interview and what you write on your profile. Consistency is key to having a digestible message that gives people confidence about what you do.
-
Keep your answers brief. The final interview should only be around 3-minutes long.
-
Once the audio file is uploaded to your profile, you can listen to it. Let us know if there is anything you want cut out or if you want to re-record it. We want you to be happy with the final product.
-
We record the interview from our computers using Skype. We can use Skype to call your cell or landline but we’ve discovered that Skype-to-Skype calls tend to provide the best audio sound quality. If you’ve provided us with your Skype ID, please log in to Skype during your scheduled 1-on-1 profile review so we can record the interview that way.
-
You can read answers to the questions above but make sure you don’t sound scripted. People are listening for the way in which you speak as much as the words you say. Both are important.

Excellent Idea!
Is this Audio-Only interview or is it Video as well (since we meet on Skype)?
If it's Audio-Only, do we have the option to add a video to our profile? Many of us feel that clients get to know (like and trust) us quicker when video is involved too.
Thanks :)

For now, the interview is audio only. I agree that video is a richer experience for customers but harder to execute well. Plus video editing is more expensive. Would you (and other coaches) pay more for a video interview?

I wouldn't want to pay too much more for the video option, but these days people really enjoy and respond favorably to video. So, that would definitely be a great option to have at some point.
