What is Your Definition of Success?

We all have a different definition of success but here is one that makes me realise that I am already successful, if not in the definition in my head!
Since I graduated from my coaching course in April 2019, I have been gone through many different emotions around the business that I am setting up. The first rush of excitement came when I raced into action setting up my Facebook page, Instagram, Website etc etc. I had all sorts of ideas about what the business would look like rushing through my head and I also had an anticipation that by the end of the year, it would look something close to some of the pictures in my head.
It doesn’t.
My business is small. My business is slow. My business is taking its time to grow. And all the visions of ‘success’ I had in my head have been looming over my thoughts and my feelings as I realise that they will not necessarily turn into a reality any time soon.
I am currently pregnant with my second child and with that come all sorts of panicky feelings around the success of my business. It is going to take me even longer to get to where I want to be. Am I even going to be able to get there at all? Am I going to be able to be a good mum and wife as well as a business owner and coach?
Then I saw this wonderful quote from Emily Mcdowell: ‘Another definition of success: a reclaiming of who you were before shame threw a blanket over your light’. If this is a definition of success, then I believe that I am already successful. I have started to step out from under that blanket that shame threw over my light. I am chasing my dream and the person that I want to be, even if I am taking tiny little steps to get there! I am more ‘me’ than I have been in a very long time and I am so grateful for that.
I am so excited to be able to do this for others. I am so grateful that my experience of coaching has allowed me to shed this blanket and that through my role as a coach, I get to to do this for others. Here’s to the success we can all achieve by living our lives free from shame!!!!
