It's Never Too Late

Is there something that got away? What are you doing to get it back? Do you think you are too old? Find out what Diana Nyad did.
Every year, you grow another year older. Perhaps you take some time to think back on the past year or even your whole life to reflect on what you have accomplished. At some point, you’ll reach an age when you begin to look back on your life at all of the things left undone.
That’s what 61 year old Diana Nyad has done. This highly accomplished endurance swimmer, journalist, author and speaker recently took some time to reflect on her own life. What she found was one unfinished goal. The goal to swim from Cuba to Florida, one of the longest and most dangerous non-stop swims possible. The planned course would take 65 hours to complete. Diana first attempted this swim in 1978 but had to stop two thirds of the way to the finish when rough seas blew her off course too far to recover.
Diana, undaunted by what most would consider her golden years, felt these were her prime years and wanted to go for the one accomplishment that got away. She calls these her “prime years”. After all, as she points out, these are the years we elect presidents. It’s the age when people are full of ideas and at their best.
What’s the goal that got away in your own life? It isn’t important what your actual age is, it’s what you’ve done with it. When was the last time you gave some thought to that goal, be it opening the bed and breakfast you’ve always dreamed of or retiring early to travel the world?
As Diana shows us, it’s never too late. So when do you want to get started?
