What is Life Coaching

Life coaching is a catalyst for meaningful conversations and positive actions to create new habits or goals.
Since launching my business, I have been met with a common question. What is Life Coaching? First let’s start with the definition of Coaching as defined by the International Coach Federation (ICF). “Partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.”
Life coaching is an alliance between a coach and a client. It is a catalyst for meaningful conversations and positive actions to create new habits or goals. Our past serves as a place of reference for us but not a place to reside in. We can pull from the past and build on it for a new future. Coaches help you be the very best you can be by inspiring and championing. They help you break through what might be holding you back from manifesting your dreams.
Through a series of conversations (or sessions), I will ask questions, listen intently and play back what I have heard. The power in these conversations comes from establishing a desired outcome. A regular conversation does not always result in moving forward. Through coaching, we will establish a meaningful outcome each session to ensure progress is being made towards the overarching goal determined by you. This helps create a mutual trust and enables the you, the client, to clarify what matters most and what you would like to achieve during our sessions.
The number of sessions is determined by the coach and client. For my clients, I recommend a minimum of 12 sessions, each 45 minutes in length. All these sessions are done over the phone. By doing this we remove all unnecessary barriers that might get in our way. In return, you can show up in your pajamas, during a break at your office or while a child is taking a nap and your commitment to growth doesn’t slow you down or become a time factor.
Here are a list of reasons/requests I have received recently.
- My goal in seeking a life coach is to improve my self confidence!!! And, although I am a marketer, I need to learn how to better market myself.
- My goal in hiring a career coach is to transition into to job field late in my career life.
- I feel stuck in a job that isn’t bring me satisfaction. Unfortunately, I’ve been at my job for 23-yrs. I think I need a coach to build my confidence, fine tune my interview skills, and strategize a way I can get a job within the same retirement.
- My goals with a life coach are to learn how life coaching works and act towards helping other people in the same way. I am the leader of a company with 100+ employees and I love developing young staff into great people. I want to focus on that passion and learn in the process. I am searching for a mentor in my life to help me set these goals and crush them.
Any of these resonate with you? I welcome an opportunity to connect and see how I can help you achieve what you so desire.
