Wonder why you never seem to achieve your personal or business goals? Perhaps they simply weren’t smart enough!
Here are simple steps on how to write SMART goals:
- Specific (simple, sensible, significant).
- Measurable (meaningful, motivating).
- Achievable (agreed, attainable).
- Relevant (reasonable, realistic and resourced, results-based).
- Time-bound (time-based, time-limited, time/cost limited, timely, time-sensitive).
Many professionals have updated this acronym to better reflect the importance of efficacy and feedback, making our SMART goal, SMARTER:
- Evaluated (evaluate the goal and related actions throughout your process).
- Reviewed (adjust and update your goal when needed to better reflect your current situation).
