She was confident and funny and happy...and beautiful

What makes us beautiful? Is it our outer appearance or is there more to it?
Last night I subjected my poor husband to a real ‘chick flick’ but it had a message that even he could appreciate!
It was about a girl who longed to be beautiful. One day she hit her head and suddenly she saw herself the way she wished she looked. Unbeknownst to her, the rest of the world saw her exactly as she had always been.
And because the girl truly believed that she was beautiful, she behaved that way. She was confident and bold and far more courageous than when she looked ‘ugly’. And the response of those around her confirmed her belief that she looked different, she looked beautiful.
Of course, one day, she slipped and hit her head again! And she realized that the response of those around her was to the beauty of the person that she had always been, to the person that she had never expressed before because she had thought that that person was too ugly to be worthwhile.
I wonder who we would all be if we weren’t held back by our beliefs about ourselves. I wonder what we might become if we saw ourselves the way the world saw us and not the way we think it sees us.
