We commonly day that we are busy but are we really busy in life? Or maybe we just have a full calendar and can't seem to create a time for others?
I remember always telling people that I’m busy. I hear this from a lot of people too. If you ask them how are they and how is work, they will tell you they are busy. But what If what the word busy you have been using is all wrong? You interested? Let’s start.
Let’s define the words first:
1) BUSY – having a great deal to do or preoccupied.
2) HECTIC – full of incessant or frantic activity.
BUSY in the wild: if you say your are busy, it means that you are working hard, or giving your attention to a particular thing. Remember giving PARTICULAR ATTENTION. That means your focus is on that work you are doing and you WON’T be able to talk to anyone, look at your phone, check your email, think about the laundry, if there are eggs still on the egg rack, when you will go to the gym and so on at that moment in time.
HECTIC in the wild: hectic on the other hand is as simple as having a calendar full of activities. Remember that back to back meeting you have that everyone who created it feels that its important to have it? Connecting? During this time, you are not busy. Why? Because you check your email. You talk to the person beside you. You check you phone. You think about what time the food will be serve or when will this end.
How do you manage yourself with respect to time then? That’s simple, SLOW DOWN. What do you mean SLOW DOWN? I have a lot of things on my mind and TO DO’s. Well the reason why we can’t slow down because we allow ourselves to tolerate other people and using us. If you are assertive and you know when you say NO, then life would be different. You will have a CREATIVE TIME. I’ve experience this and talked to a lot of people having the same challenge. They don’t want confrontation and choose to just let people push them around. Know your boundaries and be assertive. ASSERTIVE meaning, being respectful of that persons point of view, is confident and not frightened to say what he/she believes in.
There is a way to combat your BUSY or HECTIC schedule. What actions are you willing to make to create a life of JOY and PEACE?
