A marriage without respect will not thrive. But sometimes it’s hard to show respect to your spouse. Men’s greatest need in marriage is respect.
If a couple desires to have a passionate ,long- term , satisfying, fulfilling relationship, then they have to start with a baseline of mutual respect. The couple has to make sure that they see each other as a team and that they’re compassionate, honest and considerate with each other as much as possible. However nobody is perfect and they have to be prepared to apologise sincerely when a mistake is committed. If both the partners are willing to put in the effort then they can experience an enriching and respectful marriage.
A marriage without respect will not thrive. But sometimes it’s hard to show respect to your spouse. Men’s greatest need in marriage is respect. Yet, often wives neglect to give their husbands the respect they need which significantly damages their marriages. When a wife withholds respect from her husband, it’s painful to him and harmful to their marriage as if he is withholding love (women’s greatest need in marriage) from you. Respecting your husband is a challenge especially when he doesn’t deserve it. But you can learn how to give your husband the un-conditional respect that’s necessary for your marriage to thrive. Here’s how you can respect your husband more:
Seek out his opinion: Don’t wait for your spouse to always initiate conversation. Seek out ways and times when you can ask for his input on what you are working on, struggling with or interested in. Doing so shows you think they have something of value to offer.
Guard his reputation: There will be things husband does that you don’t like or that hurts you. Don’t air your dirty laundry with your friends, on social media or otherwise in public. If there are some serious issues about which you need advice or support, seek out a counsellor or an elder to get input from –privately.
Learn to compromise: Another way to respect your partner is to be able to compromise on the things you disagree about. When you’re making a decision together, the most important thing is that you both first listen to each other and make sure you understand exactly where the other person stands on this issue. Then, you should be able to discuss pros and cons of the situation in a respectful manner and to find a resolution that can make both of you as happy as possible.
Change your attitude and actions: Respect is both a verb and noun, an action and an attitude, so begin today to respect your husband in thought, word and deed, He will be more willing and able to give you the love and affection you need if he is respected and admired.
Choose words of respect: When communicating with your husband choose your words carefully, making sure that they express your message respectfully. Be careful to respect your husband’s reputation when communicating with other people about him. Also make a habit of complimenting and praising your husband whenever possible.
