Are You a Particle or a Wave?

This article invites you to a different experience of life.
Modern science has discovered that light sometimes behaves like a particle and sometimes like a wave. I’ve noticed that as humans, we do the same. When we are experiencing a high level of consciousness (awake-awareness) then we are behaving like a wave. When we are heavily identified with our ego-mask, then we are behaving like a particle. So what’s the difference?
When we behave like a wave, we know that we are inextricably connected to to all other beings and forms in the universe. What’s good for another being is good for us. And what’s truly good for us is also good for everyone else. In wave form we feel light, open, and spacious. From this place, we allow pain and all other emotions pass through us freely and transform into pure energy.
When we behave like a particle, we believe that we are separate and distinct from others. We are generally fearful and anxious, and we believe that we have to compete to win. We feel solid and heavy and serious. From this place, we deny and resist pain and that pain turns into suffering.
The title of this article is a trick question, since all of us behave both as a particle and as a wave. As we interact with other people and negotiate the demands of modern life and work, we have to be able to embrace and love both our wave and particle nature.
So how can the premise of this article be of service? If we practice visualizing ourselves as an energy wave that is moving around and interacting with other energy waves, then we will have a richer and more satisfying experience of life. We will get out of own way more often and ride the waves of natural intelligence that surround us. We will become surfers on the unpredictable and uncontrollable waves of life.
I don’t know about you, but to me surfing the waves of life seems much more appealing than doggy paddling furiously to just keep my head above water.
