New Year's Resolutions aren't kept, money wasted on gyms, embarrassment from failures, same goal, NEW year, same failure, same result! Is it worth it?
Do you find yourself getting stuck in the debate about whether or not New Year’s Resolutions work or not and the arguments that condemn the practice as a worthless strategy? Is it worth it to avoid embarrassment? Is it worth it not waste money? Is it worth it to risk not achieving the result again?
Or, if the goal and result were ever worth achieving, do you want to look good or get the result? It is more embarrassing to quit, give up, and accept defeat or align yourself with the likes of Abraham Lincoln, Michael Jordan, Thomas Edison and Nelson Mandela?
If you choose success, keep reading!
According to John Norcross at the University of Scranton, “…only 8% of people achieve their New Year’s Resolutions.” (“Talk of the Nation,” NPR, 12/28/2013, “New Year’s Resolutions statistics,” StatisticsBrain.com)
Maybe you also find yourself wanting to shut off of the static and simply focus on creating the results you desire to achieve by December 31, 2019?
Some people still get excited in January each year, seeing it as a fresh start to make some changes.
There are also many who hate (Search YouTube and you’ll find some entertaining videos) New Year’s Resolutions and available articles and videos have some solid evidence.
If failing to achieve perfection by reaching each goal is seen as negative, and a failure, rather than a lesson, it is not surprising that so many “hate” the process an refuse to participate. I expect some of us secretly “reset” our life in January, but choose not to share our hopes and dreams.
“I never lose. I either win or I learn.” -Nelson Mandela
Mistakes and failure are quite inevitable in this life. While they seem like the problem and reason we do not succeed, but might they be the reason we can succeed? Might it simply be a matter of perspective, attitude and how we choose to respond to the challenges?
“The key to success if failure.” -Michael Jordan
We do not have to stay STUCK! What if we choose to “Maximize our Mistakes” and learn the lessons using past failures as our greatest guide for future success in 2019!
