Real LOVE!

I remember being in grade school and having this humungous crush on __________ [I will never tell]! I know there are some of you who know exactly what I am talking about. Every time I would see him, I would just get this feeling inside like no other I had ever had. I knew I was in L-O-V-E. But was I?
Years pass, experiences occur, and people change. Oh hell, life happens. I often wonder what might have been if I would’ve gotten what I wanted- my opportunity at my ‘true love.’ I hear the stories of true love. How people meet and know that they are for each other. That has never been my experience. I was either chasing or being chased. I’m tired of the run around.
I’ve learned a thing or two about life and love. Neither seem to always work out the way I would like. Nor will I always get what I want. It’s funny that way. The other thing I’ve learned is that I have gotten what I needed to make it in this life. I’ve accepted this. I still hold out hope that my school girl crush will come to his senses and realize that I am here, waiting to give him the best years of our lives. Yeah! Maybe he will. Maybe he won’t. How about this? The real LOVE of my life has been here all along, waiting to be tended to, nurtured and empowered. I don’t have to chase….. It’s far more important than any crush I’ll ever have….. That be ME!.
