Discover 4 Ways a Wilder Book Marketing Campaign will help you sell more books, grow your mailing list, social media following, introduce you to indus
Congratulations on writing your first book Superstar!! That’s no easy feat I can attest to that journey. So, now it’s time for you to share your new love with the world and start cashing in the coins. But, you may be asking yourself, “How in the heck am I supposed to market and sell this book?”
This is where a Wilder Book Marketing Campaign comes in to save the day to help you sell more books, grow your mailing list, social media following, introduce you to industry leaders and help you reach a larger audience….but with just the right amount of sexy professional balance to increase your brand visibility and credibility.
No more spending crazy hours or money paying a marketing consultant not experienced in book promotions to market and sell your book…unless you happen to be a marketing consultant that’s publishing a book…lol then you’re golden…lol.
I often see new authors get all super excited about the actual writing of the book, but forget to initiate the marketing side of the book process well in advance; typically they wait until the book is ready to publish to start marketing…that’s waaaay too late in the game to start. You need to market and you can sell your book…before it’s even written!
How did you love my Book Trailer?
Did you visit my website yet to watch my book trailer-Awesome right? That’s just one of the many strategies I teach you to use to market your book. And I introduce you to my publisher (BookFuel) as well; together we designed a Kickass Book Trailer for my first book, “It’s OK to Tell My Story, Surviving Common Law Domestic Violence” and you can design a Kickass Book Trailer too!!
So, What’s an Author to Do?
Let me guess…you’re probably freak-n-out as you stare at all the boxes of books you have just sitting in your home office, you’re starting to feel full of anxiety, fear and you begin to think to yourself, “This might have been a bad idea”.
Don’t Worry!
Even if you didn’t start a book marketing campaign in the beginning of the process (recommended Superstar) you can still recover like the Kickass Author you are. I’ve noticed that new Authors don’t grasp the concept of what they need to do first; get their book into the hands of their ideal readers or figure out how to start changing their mindset.
Here’s What to Do Next!
Create a Wilder Marketing Campaign with a solid foundation that includes building up your Wilder Mindset. The reason you include a Wilder Mindset in your campaign is because you have to learn how to support yourself; even when no one is there with you at the 2am hour. And you have to learn how to support yourself when the sales are slow.
Just remember the reason you wrote the book in the first place, the value you add to the reader and the solution your book will add to their pain point so they can start to live their best life….all because of your book (it’s an awesome feeling!!)
Tip#1 Create a Wilder Book Marketing Campaign!
It starts with a solid foundation that includes building up your Wilder Mindset.
Here are my simple steps to market your book
Prepare. Create the foundation, including mailing lists, landing pages, book launches, bonuses and other marketing materials. Social Media Platforms. Review your current platforms and make sure your profiles are optimized to accept sales; including your Amazon page. Use sexy professional images, links, etc. Leverage Media. Find those free opportunities to reach out to media. Connect with book bloggers, podcasters, and industry leaders to get the word out about your book. Kickass. Keeping the momentum going and think about creating a series, a second book, etc. The key is staying in front of the readers and letting them know you’re not just a one off. Multiple Income Streams. Monetize your book and offers before, after and during your book launch you want to engage multiple income streams to bring in more cash i.e. products, programs or services.Tip#2 Create a Wilder Tribe
If you have a faithful group of followers; hone in on that. This could be your family, friends or social media followers. You want your followers on your official Facebook Fan Page, Groups and email lists to be people who value not only your creations, but your time as well.
Don’t give up on the people that USE, USE, USE…only take all the freebies….and never buy anything. Remember, the key is to build consistent Know, Like and Trust by giving awesome value…but, you still gotta eat homeslice…lol. So, you have to make money!
Here’s how to handle this situation. If you notice a follower is always commenting or taking freebies and never buying; offer them low end offers to help them to be able to afford your books, products, program or service.
I recommend keeping your tribe hyped up on level 5 (lol). First, send valuable content at least weekly. Second, send motivation to inspire. Third, ask for book reviews and testimonials (make sure to say thank you and gift them in return).
Tip#3 Become a Wilder, Successful & Non-Negotiable Entrepreneur!
Being a Kickass Author also means you are an Entrepreneur because you’re “selling” your book in exchange for currency. This is why I capture you all under the title, “Wilder, Successful & Non-Negotiable Entrepreneur”. And since sales and marketing are like 1st cousins…lol this is why I teach my Authors and Entrepreneurs that aren’t authors the same sales strategy for selling all types of products (your book is a product);. As an Author if you want to make money from your book you need a solid plan to sell.
Sales is much more than providing the customer with your book in exchange for money. Sales involves a relationship not only between the author and the reader, but the the author and the now client that will potentially buy more from you.
There are many traits that readers/clients look for in not only books, but in authors and entrepreneurs also. Being the only link between the book and the reader, it is important to develop these important traits.
Author Traits: Learn to be the author that readers want to visit their website and learn more about. And discover how to convert your reader into a client that purchases more of your offers. Know Your Readers/Clients: Know what your readers values and needs are, but more importantly; how your book solves that need. Be aware of your competitions similar product (book) and how yours is of more value. Know Your Product: Be knowledgeable about all aspects of your book from cover, distribution, content, etc. And know how this information can be beneficial to your readers/clients. Generate Leads: Understand that if you’re an Entrepreneur, your reader is considered to be a lead that you will convert into a customer and hopefully you’ll convert into a potential client. As an Author and Entrepreneur, you have to learn how to speak to each one differently. Become the Authority: By default of writing your book; you are the subject matter expert. If you are the industry expert, make sure to annotate your credentials on your social media, websites, in your book, etc. (this is the time to brag on yourself). This increases your brand credibility and visibility. Next, you have to understand how to use this new found authority. Build Trust: Build trust with your readers before they buy i.e. offer free chapters, livestreams, etc. Ensure they know you have their best interest at heart, you’re genuine, honest and you can trust your product, program or services. Try using testimonials and reader reviews to help with this. Develop a Relationship: Understand what is expected of you as an author and entrepreneur, because these are 2 similar yet; completely different niches that cross each other. This is where having a Team helps you. Effectively Communicate: Discover how to sound natural with speaking with your followers, readers and client on various platforms. Learn how to reach out to them to build lasting relationships. Learn to Love Yourself: You have to learn to motivate yourself when no one else does. Learn how to motivate yourself and your team to help increase sales. Initiate SMART Goals: Establishing Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely goals is key to author and entrepreneur success. Setting these goals will allow you to analyze your performance, strategies and identify where modifications need to occur to help you attain Wilder Success.Tip#4 Get Ready for the Haters
Here’s a lesson I had to learn along the way; not everyone wants to see you become successful. Believe it or not, there are people out there that just want to suck you dry by getting free information and others that don’t want to see you happy because they’re not happy with themselves.
There’s an entirely different article on this posting soon on how to avoid Toxic Clients/Readers and how to get the respect you deserve. But, here’s a snippet of information from the article.
Don’t give your energy to Toxic People; only focus on real clients/readers with “valid” concerns. Everyone will have an opinion about you and what you’re doing…STAY LASER FOCUSED & CONFIDENT!! Become more assertive, self-confident and remember you’re freak-n Kickass because you took a risk and gave value that has now changed someone’s life for a positive…THAT’S KICKASS!!
Typically, I see this HATERATION if your book is about something from your personal life or an unique professional experience; you’re going to get haters. Don’t get distracted! Stay focused on your Author goals. If you have a Kickass VA (virtual Assistant) let that person handle the comments if possible. How do I handle it? I ignore the comments, delete and keep being Kickass. If it’s something that is going to be potentially detrimental to my business; I get the big guns (attorneys) involved.
Which strategy do you feel will help you the most to find your Next Ideal Client/Reader?
