Corporate Vision – Why & How to achieve?

The Success of a business is directly proportional to the Vision. Do you have a powerful Vision? Are your teams aligned towards the same Vision?
Vision – widely known as the statement that describes the company’s goal. The goal could be short term or long term. The objective here is not to dwell upon Vision but rather to check why, a lot of organisations are not able to achieve the stated “VISION”.
Vision, the goal of the organization is accomplished only when all the members of the group work towards the same goal. Unfortunately, in a lot of organizations the Vision only remains “a wish to have”. On a serious note, this is a dream of the people who founded the company. Meaning, this statement has a real burning desire to succeed. If that’s the case, why do a lot of organizations – whether small or large fail to achieve this?
The answer is straight forward. It is just the lack of “Goal Setting” which can happen at various stages – during the interview or induction or on boarding of the employee into his job by the respective manager. Ideally, the best scenario is to have the manager define the goals for the team member. I have come across a lot of KRA’s that are common across the organization, irrespective of the roles. In some cases, there are specific skill sets which are used for measuring the individual’s performance on a specific role. We are aware of these scenarios & would have come across these at some point of time. The question is – how can the KRA’s be more effective & inspiring? The whole purpose of a well-defined KRA system is defeated if it is treated just as a tool to monitor employee’s performance. Rather, this should serve as the litmus test for the management to check where the organization stands on the “Vision Path”.
Vision should be a goal that inspires all the employees to work towards it & hence it should be carefully stated. Only a well-defined and quantifiable vision would lead to the success of an organisation, because every individual works to achieve a certain goal. The vision should be easily understandable to every team member. Moreover, it should have a driving factor that gives the sense for every team member that his/her personal goals lies in the overall organisation’s success. The better it is defined & designed, the higher are the probabilities for success.
My best wishes to all the entrepreneurs who are on their journey to success.
