What will you do to be the best you? The path of the evolutionary leader requires you to build your soft skills. Choose to begin now.
Being an evolutionary leader takes consciousness. And, it requires that you engage in your own evolution. Does that sound big & scary? It is big, it does take courage, but it is a simple process which involves you growing you. If you want what you say you want…you must build you. You must build your own leadership skills and become your own, unique leader. Building leadership skills is to build your soft skills. Building your soft skills builds your core…your core is your power.
What do I mean when I say soft skills? Wikipedia defines soft skills as:
1. A sociological term relating to a person’s emotional intelligence; the cluster of personality traits, social graces, communication, language, personal habits, friendliness, and optimism that characterize relationships with other people.
2. Soft skills complement hard skills which are the occupational requirements of a job and many other activities.
Specifically, I break down and define soft skills into the following four categories.
Evolutionary leaders are authentic, they know their purpose and they have vision. They know who they are and they know that who they be influences the world around them. They have a clear understanding of what they want for themselves…and for the world.
Who are you and what is your vision?
Evolutionary leaders know that they are the source of their success and they also know that they are the source of their obstacles. Values and beliefs drive behaviors. Behaviors either create a pathway to success and fulfillment, or create conflict on the path.
What are your obstacles and how will you resolve them?
Evolutionary leaders know and use communication to learn about themselves and to relate and interact with the world around them.
To what extent do you use communication?
Evolutionary leaders form partnerships of equality, collaborate with others, and effectively work with teams.
What kind of partner are you?
Wherever you are in your evolution as a leader, now is the time to begin to – or continue to – develop your self. It is a conscious choice, one that you must claim and experience.
What are you willing to do to move forward on your evolutionary path as a leader?
