Anxiety: Your Brain Loves You Very Much

Here's what is really happening when we are struct by anxiety.
“The wall that protects us sometimes imprisons us”
I was moved by this quote. To me, it’s a great perspective on Anxiety. It describes the effects perfectly.
Our brain loves us very much and in doing so one of its jobs is to protect us from anything which may harm us so when we send it a message of fear/anxiety of a situation it will respond accordingly. Unfortunately, it can leave us feeling pretty poor as a result.
But what if we sent a different message, a message that invoked a different meaning to the feelings we are experiencing?
For example, the next time anxiety shows up about meeting new people, we can choose to attach a meaning of excitement about what’s to come. A meaning that suggests that it could be fun, or even open new opportunities for us.
What if the message we sent was a positive, resourceful message that serves us that we were about to incur, rather than that of fear. If we can attach a new meaning, and practice anchoring that meaning to the situation we can get a different response whenever we want.
The key here is to start giving our brain new directions.
You are bigger than your anxiety and you have the power to give new directions any time you want. It’s time to release yourself from this prison of the mind.
It’s time to change our own narrative so our brain can protect us from what really matters.
Until next time, keep learning & keep growing.
