Victor or Victim?

There is a very elegant yet simple method for determining if you have the correct people on your team.
Are you a Victor or a Victim?
The Victor sets out to P.R.O.V.E. something. He or she has a Positive outlook on everything that needs to be done in order to succeed. They are focused on getting Results and not just going through the motions. The Victor takes Ownership of the things they are responsible for. They create Value for the organization and while doing so, they are Enthusiastic.
On the other hand the Victim has a B.E.N.D. approach to what they do. They Blame everyone else around them when something goes wrong or a deadline or project is incomplete. They make Excuses for goals not being met. They are Negative in their attitude towards the company, the team and the environment. Finally, they Deny any and all responsibility and choose not to accept their own faults and mistakes.
I recently had a client whose business was off 20% and in working together he came to realize that he had a Victim mentality about his own business. When, he realized that he needed to change his thinking and set out to PROVE something, his business turned around and he had a 20% increase the following year. His business is up 40% this year.
So, take a good look at your team. Can you classify every member of your team? Do you have some Victims that are dragging you and your company down? Do you need to do a little self examination and change your approach as a business leader to one of a Victor? You might see dramatic results like my client.
