Be a communication ninja by understanding body language skills.
Do you want to take the next level in your career? Do you wonder why someone else got the promotion and not you? Be a communication ninja by understanding body language skills.
Successful executives know that their skill to communicate is key to their success. Even in technical industries, the top roles go to those who have 15% technical skills and 85% people skills. Being able to build report and understand what motivates others is at the heart of leadership. In order to communicate with others, you need to know how to read them. Just like you needed to learn how to read before making sense of a book. Reading people’s body language will allow you to connect with others. People skills are developed just like technical skills.
An exceptional example of poor and good nonverbal communication is in the first televised U.S. presidential debate in 1960. Kennedy and Nixon sat in front of the entire nation. Nixon clinched the chair with stress in his hands, pointed his feet to the exit and constantly looked over towards Kennedy. Nixon gave the voting audience a hundred reasons why not to vote for him even before the debate began. His poor body language signalled to voters that he was not a leader. It took sixteen years to televise another presidential debate. The nation recognized the impact of a televised debate, but they did not understand why.
Have you ever wondered what someone else is thinking? Have you ever wondered why you did not get a job? Why did you not get a second call from your date? Or, do you not have as much influence in your social circles as you would like?
People base their opinions of you on your nonverbal cues. Also, you express yourself to others by your nonverbal cues. Body language can help you discover, develop and use those dormant assets that you have innately within you. Everyone deserves to improve their relationships.
