Why I'm a coach?

What coaching had done for me which made me decide to become a coach myself. This article will lead you to deciding on your goals in life.
Why I‘m a coach?
Before I answer this question, I’d like my reader to accompany me in a short journey through which we discover our intentions, wishes, desires and goals in life. I presume that the majority of my readers will say: “WAW that’s great idea, let’s do it” but a few readers will say: “What?”. Especially on the intentions and goals part.
I love both kinds of readers.
Whatever your discipline or profession is, even if you’re a coach, this journey might be a very beneficial to you.
If we don’t pause from time to time and allow ourselves to go through an imaginary/visualization process to discover, clearly identify, clarify, define and/review our wishes, desires and goals, we may get lost in our daily routines.
Our imaginary/visualization journey will include the following steps.
• Find a quiet and comfortable place.
• Set comfortably and your eyes
• Take 3 deep but smooth breaths from your stomach. Take double time in exhaling than inhaling.
• Now, while closing your eyes, imagine or visualize yourself after 5 years from now. See yourself in different areas of your life; i.e. your health, personal development, career, family relationship, society contributions and spiritual commitments. Make sure you “SEE YOURSELF CLEARLY” (live the situations) in each of these areas.
• Now open your eyes.
• Write your clear and concise observations/reflections in each of the imaginary/visualized area.
• After that if you know how to set “SMART GOALS”, set at least one goal for each area; otherwise, if don’t know how to set “SMART GOALS”, choose a coach whom you trust and engage with him in setting your “SMART GOALS” and a coaching journey to achieve your goals. Remember; even if you are a coaching, working with a coach is the best and fastest way to reach your desired destination. Don’t forget that “EVERYONE NEEDS A COACH”.
Hopefully, I’m sure this is not the end of my journey with you but definitely the beginning of it.
It may be clear for most of you by now why I became a coach?
I have benefitted a lot from coaching on my personal, professional, social and spiritual dimensions. Just one example, I had been for years wishing to be a certified trainer but kept procrastinating until one day I was talking to my friend, Aref Almubarak, about my certified trainer desire. He said “Why don’t I coach you?”
I said what is that?
So, he went in explaining what’s coaching and how we can benefit from it. After that we engaged in a 3 months coaching period during which I identified 10 goals, 3 primary goals and 7 secondary goals. I achieved 100% for 2 primary goals and more than 90% of the 3rd primary goal. I’ve also achieve some of my secondary goals indirectly as I was working on my primary goals.
The two primary goals I achieved were to reduce my total cholesterol level from 290 to below 200 and to design “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” workshop. Before the end of my coaching contract, I managed to reduce my cholesterol level to 160 and finished designing the workshop and delivered it two times in my society.
Because I lived the coaching experience, I decided to became a coach myself with the encouragement of my coach. I enrolled in a 6 months intensive coach certification program with Coach4Excellence, completed more than 150 official coaching hours and now I’m ready for the ICF Coach Knowledge Assessment exam which I’m planning to next month.
Thus, this is my story which I hope it gave you an insight about coaching and will encourage you not only to engage in coaching to achieve your goals but also to select being a coach yourself as one of your primary coaching goals.
