Getting Away From The Critics
I am always amazed at the number of critics that come out of the closet when they hear about someone’s plans to start a new adventure, transformation or when that someone simply realizes they want to pursue a lifelong dream or passion. During these moments when the critics unleash themselves, I often wonder how these same critics are doing in their own personal lives and what makes them the so keen on putting others down.
The reality is that in the end we all die, period. I know that sounds morbid, but we simply can’t avoid it, argue with it, or BS our way out of it. After the funeral, the only thing that will truly live on with you, besides your headstone of course, will be your character, for that is what people will remember you by.
Those who spent their time mocking, bullying or ridiculing others will not be the ones who get credit for living life to the fullest. They will be the ones forgotten. True credit will actually go to the individuals who worked hard regardless of the personal, physical, emotional or societal limitations others may have placed upon them, and in turn, overcame those limitations and made a difference in the world. No matter how small, a positive difference has tremendous and exponential potential for positive change. It’s the game changers, adventurers, free thinkers, and courageous souls who are consistently true to themselves and honor their own strengths and weaknesses.
We all have our weaknesses, however small or big. The difference between us all lies in how we choose to use those weaknesses moving forward. The game changers, visionaries, and non-status quos have all fought the good fight and paid the price through sweat, blood and tears–and at times with broken bones and hearts, paying the price in silence with no one around but their own beautiful spirits and love for mankind and the desire for positive change. Now, that’s considered living and using your weaknesses to create a better tomorrow.
Passion is what drives change and growth in this world–having a personal vision and purpose that gets you up everyday–not complaining or negativity. If you ever find yourself in a compromising situation with someone who uses their weakness to put down others, simply look them in the eyes and say, “Not today.” Happiness is a choice, so own your day and life with confidence.
