How do you best learn, remember and apply your knowledge?

Knowledge is power. Practical application of knowledge is wisdom. How will be increase your ability to tranform the knowledge you learn into wisdom?
How do you learn? Is is hard for you to remember what you learned? Do you remember sufficiently, short-term, that you can pass a test or answer your boss’ question, but not long-term so that you can apply your knowledge?
Much could be said about The Learning Pyramid that shows the percentages of retention based on the learning method
(Images cannot be posted here so I have uploaded the Learning Pyramid as my profile photo for the week or so [27Aug-3 Sep]. You can find the image and the article on my LinkedIn account under Derek Sleater Cook.
When you look at it, which method stands out to you as the most effective way for you to learn? Which method seems to be most common and the least effective for you? Each of the involvement types, Demonstrate, Discussion Group, Practice by Doing and Teaching Others are different and not may be your preference.
Here’s my challenge to you:
1) Choose one of the Involvement methods this week and commit to improve how you can increase your learning retention. (You will also probably notice that you will learn faster as well)
2) Message me and share your experience of what worked and what did not.
