5 Reasons Why Life Coaching Will Change Your Life
If you’re stuck and not truly thriving—a certified life coach can help. As a life coach, my job is to get you unstuck – to inspire and motivate you to meet personal and professional goals, and to help you make life changes that will lead you to a more fulfilling life. Whether you’re battling a serious addiction or are simply bored with your job and how you’re living, a certified life coach can help you get back on track.
1. Getting Unstuck. People who are stuck need help identifying life changes they can make to improve their life. It is not uncommon for people who had dreams and goals earlier in life to simply give up on them. Whether it’s family or work or exhaustion facing day to day life, people often put their goals on the back burner, and live life moment to moment, numb to the everyday, devoid of dreams, without a vision of a better future. Coaching will wake you up and force you to face the realities of your everyday life, and help you remember where you once wanted to be.
2. Goal Setting
Often, people either see their dreams as unattainable or else they don’t take the time to think about what they truly want. A life coach can help you realize your talents and passions, then focus on goal setting. Once you know the destination, a coach works with you to set the path. What needs to change for you to meet your goals? What steps need to be taken to make your hopes and dreams come true? Setting goals is important, but just a small piece of the work needed to move you forward toward a more satisfying, meaningful, and joyous life.
3. Understanding Your Problems
It’s difficult to identify the problems that are keeping you from achieving your goals. A certified life coach can help you develop a better understanding of the obstacles and fears standing in your way. You need to identify what’s holding you back before you can work through the issue. Sometimes we are blocked internally, perhaps struggling with self-sabotage or self-esteem issues. These internals need to be addressed and worked on. Success can only be realized once your internal blocks are resolved. Other times, we need to face external blocks to success. One common issue is financial instability. Together, we will explore options that will provide stability, or even resolution to your external problems.
4. Accepting Your Perspective
Talking to friends or loved ones about your problems isn’t always easy; they’re often too personally involved to see things from your perspective. You need to work with someone who can accept your viewpoint on a situation without judgment or bias. As a life coach, it is paramount that I provide an atmosphere of safety – a judgment-free zone – to enable you to dig deep and discover personal changes that you must make if you are to meet your goals, and ultimately, live a life free of toxic shame and guilt. Past mistakes can leave a thick layer of negativity and shame inside of you that may be contributing to your paralysis.
5. Making Plans
Understanding your problems is only half of the equation. You also need to develop a strategy to solve them. With help from a certified life coach, you can equip yourself with the necessary tools and attitudes to overcome a personal issue, or meet a professional goal, one step at a time.
