Is Multi-tasking Productive, Efficient and Effective in Achieving Results?

How well does multi-tasking work for you? Does it increase or decrease your productivity?
I often wonder if I am more effective and productive because I remember to start boiling the water to cook my oatmeal while I am writing a blog and brushing my teeth…or…am diluting my efficiency by not maintaining focus on, and completing, the most important task at hand well? Am I achieving the results I desire?
If we asked your spouse, child or best friend how effective and efficient your multi-tasking is when the above tasks all began DURING a conversation with them, what would they say? Would those close to you say you are achieving the results you desire?
I also wonder if I am being efficient and productive because I remember to complete the team meeting agenda, go pick up the print jobs and return a call to a client all while I am listening to my business partner tell me about their lunch with a potential investor…or …am I diluting my efficiency by not focusing on and completing the most important task at hand well? Am I truly achieving the results I desire?
If we asked your business partner or co-workers how effective and efficient your multi-tasking was if you were the person in the above scenario, what would they say? Would those who know you well observe you to be achieving the results you desire?
Are you creating and achieving the results you desire?
What are your thoughts?
I invite you to share you opinions, experience and questions!
