Eileen was exhausted from her job search. Working together, we regrouped and restrategized which enabled Eileen to get the job of her dreams!
A Job Search Success Story
My client, Eileen, spent some time looking for a job on her own prior to meetingwith me. Eileen is 30 years old with a BS and a Master’s degree. She had been let
go from her last position. She was devastated by the unfair way she was treated
in this last job and how she was let go. Eileen wanted to get a new position in
a job arena with limited employment opportunities. She had 2 strikes against her.
had the pleasure to work with. Initially, Eileen thought she would get a job within
the month. She was unsure of how to proceed and she reached out to me. It took
Eileen almost 4 months to get the job she wanted and during this time she went on
dozens (and I mean dozens) of interviews. She even had 2nd and 3rd (and one 4th!)
interviews with several companies. To use a baseball analogy, Eileen kept making it to 3rd
base but wasn’t getting to home plate. So together, Eileen and I regrouped and re-strategized.
Eileen reached out to several of the clients who previously rejected her for positions at
their companies and she actively sought feedback from these clients. One client
told her that she came across as “insincere” when she answered several questions;
another client told her that she needed to remain calmer when she spoke about a previous job
where she had faced numerous obstacles.
open to developing new approaches and strategies in the job search process. She kept
sending out resumes, networking, making calls and going on interviews. After each job
interview, she and I would dissect the interview. Four weeks after receiving her last rejection,
Eileen went on 3 interviews and got the job she wanted, at the salary she requested! Eileen
demonstrated resilience, intelligence, and perseverance.
In Summary
Eileen is a success story; career coaching helped her, but Eileen also helped
herself. Eileen was the perfect “coachee.” She listened to advice, she made
changes when things were not going her way and she persevered even when things
felt discouraging. Eileen succeeded and I am so happy for her and proud of her
hard work and dedication.
