Believe It, or Not – 7 Steps to Shifting from Struggles to Strength
“Reality is, I’ll never be wealthy.”
“Change is difficult.”
“There’s never enough time.”
In every area of our life, we have beliefs that help or hinder us. Some beliefs we learned from our family; others are picked up from our experiences. They are the foundation for how we look at ourselves and our relationship to everything around us.
A belief is simply a thought that we repeat over and over. Therefore, it can be changed. Discovering our underlying beliefs that no longer (or never did) serve us, is a key step in growing personally and professionally.
Take a look a the first statement - a belief about money: “Reality is, I’ll never be wealthy.” Is that completely true? How do you feel when you say that belief? How does that impact on what decisions you make regarding money?
What new belief would serve you better? Perhaps, “I create financial abundance”, “Money flows to me with ease”, “I attract wealth” and/or "I manage my financial wealth well".
7 Steps to upgrading your belief systems:
1) What areas of life would you most like to improve: Financial, Physical, Relationships, Work/Career, Spirituality? Choose one.
2) Write down all the beliefs you hold related to that area.
3) Star those that no longer serve you.
4) Rewrite each limiting belief with a more affirming belief; one that will better support you in your goals.
5) Say to yourself, “I believe… (insert your new belief statement)”. Imagine your new belief being energetically integrated into your thinking. Notice how it feels to think this more positive statement.
6) Release your old belief. State aloud to yourself, “I release my old belief of…”
7) Write your new belief on your mirror, on a sticky note, in your journal or daytimer… any where you will frequently see it. Trust and look for evidence of your new belief in how you think, feel and act.
