*Want to know the ‘insider secret’ that promises help for stressed out moms? *
What do the rich and famous have in common? They all have coaches. Superstar singers have voice coaches. Actors and actresses have drama coaches. Professional athletes have personal trainers (coaches.) The president of the United States has cabinet members to help ‘coach’ him in the decisions he makes. If people in high profile positions understand the advantages of having a personal coach, then why shouldn’t moms cash in on this ‘insider secret’ to get valuable parenting help and problem solving solutions?
It can be exhausting to think of all the many professional “hats” a mother must wear. Just to name a few, there is nanny, nurse, CEO, psychologist, day care center teacher, chef, maid, etc. According to one report the average duties of a mom would earn her a whopping $138,095.00 annually. With all the responsibilities moms are required to do, let’s try and determine if they would be good candidates for lifestyle coaching.
Just what is lifestyle coaching? According to the International Coach Federation (ICF), “Professional Lifestyle coaching is an ongoing professional relationship that helps people produce extraordinary results in their lives, careers, businesses or organizations. Through the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance, and enhance their quality of life.” In short, lifestyle coaching will help improve your performance in all areas of your life such as general life issues, wellness, parenting, career, goal achievement, and relationships are just a few areas of interest that one might seek out a coach.
Now that we know what lifestyle coaching is, let’s determine, according to the above definition, if coaching can really offer support for moms. To begin with, let’s zero in on the “helps people” part of the above definition. My guess is that it is a rare occasion that a mother hears these precious words uttered, “Do you need any help mom?” What about when a woman confides in a friend to help her solve a pressing problem? Human nature being what it is, my guess is that a large percentage of friend’s responses would reflect back on their own life instead of focusing on finding a solution to the problem at hand.
It’s really no wonder that two thirds of the people that choose life coaching are women. It’s a proven fact that women are more likely to seek out help to solve their problems than men, so a life coach is the perfect solution. What these women know is that the sole purpose of the coach is to focus on and help the client discover within herself the solutions to life’s challenges and problems.
Now let’s examine the phrase, “produce extraordinary results.” A good mother is driven to achieve great things for herself and her family such as physical, emotional, and spiritual well being. To prove my point, next time you are checking out of your neighborhood grocery store just glance at a few women’s magazine covers. Most likely you will see titles like lose weight, organize your life, make over your look, redecorate your home, revamp your attitude and the list goes on. Those self improvement titles are prominent on all women’s magazines because that’s what women want! Achievement! Goal attainment! A lifestyle coach can help turn goals and dreams of self improvement into reality! Coaches can help guide and support a mom in all areas of her life such as with her children, family, career, spirituality, finances, love and romance, health, fun and recreation, and friends. For instance:
• Parenting: A mom could discover solutions to the many issues and concerns revolving around her children such as discipline and chores, respect issues, and other areas of child development.
• Personal Fulfillment: A personally fulfilled mom is a happy mom! A life coach can help rekindle your dreams and passions that you might have given up on.
• Relationships: One of the greatest gifts you can give your child is to have a loving relationship with your spouse.
• Health: Strategize a wellness plan so that you can have the mental and physical strength to meet the demands of motherhood.
As we continuing dissecting the coaching definition, lastly we find from the ICF that, “Through the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance, and enhance their quality of life.” Now I know most of you women reading this are getting really excited having realized that you might have finally found a way to truly realize your goals and dreams! If you have already bought the books, CD, DVD’s, memberships, attended the seminars, done the diets and have still come up short of your hopes and dreams then coaching is definitely a resource you’ll want to explore. Now moms have a powerful self improvement tool, even a second brain, to put into their (inner) ‘make-up bags!’
Now we are brought full circle and ask again the original question; would moms benefit from life coaching? I think we have determined that moms who are success driven would definitely be good candidates to find a greater degree of achievement in their home, family and personal life. Mothers who are stressed and struggling would certainly be wise to enlist the guidance and support that a personal life coach would offer them. With the many “hats” a mom wears it just makes sense to utilize this highly effective ‘insider secret’ of the rich and famous. By doing so, moms can take advantage of this valuable support system as she strives to meet the many demands of the greatest of all roles, that of motherhood.
