Are You Making Joy?

Are you aware that you are a Joy Creation Machine? My blog has coaching articles that will bring you fresh perspective...www.acomfortablemind.com
Once again this week, I was reminded of the differences between pleasure and joy.
I know when I am making joy. It is the point at which my soul acknowledges of something “this is good.”
That acknowledgement can come while working on my house. While meditating or praying. Taking time to be with my children. Excellent conversation. Working with clients. Watching the bees busily working on the first ever sunflower in my garden. Joy is a state of wellbeing that is cultivated within.
Pleasure is wonderful too. I take pleasure from drinking hot sake, or partaking of delicious homemade chocolate. Soaking aching feet.
Pleasure comes from an interaction with something outside of your inner being.
Joy and pleasure often exist together at the same time. When the thing you take pleasure in is something that you know enriches either your soul or the soul of others, I believe it increases your state of joy.
Unlike pleasure, joy exists at a chosen level within us and can be increased merely by remembering and meditating upon good things. By acknowledging the good in yourself or others, or considering how good things will be. By purposefully feeling, once again, the unconditional love you have for and from others. Knowing that God is Love brings me joy.
Joy is a state of being that we practice.
Like all things that we practice, we get better at it the more we do it. You can be a joy factory if you are committed to it.
That person that did that thing to you? They can’t steal your joy. That thing that happened to you? It doesn’t have the power to take your joy either. That wretched situation? It might not bring you pleasure but it doesn’t have to be a joy robber.
Learning how to cultivate joy is a practice that will serve you well when you enter into struggles and hardships. This is when you will want to have already gained some mastery in the practice of joy creation.
So why not get started today?
