So, you've had it with your boss; you've had it with your co-workers; and you feel like you could do much better on your own.
As a serial entrepreneur, I can tell you that you DO have what it takes. However, that doesn’t mean that you will be successful. Being a successful business man or woman has little to do with your intellect, skills and abilities. It has everything to do with your mental ability to overcome personal obstacles.
There are four types of people who start out on their own: 1) desperate employee who has been let go from their day-job; 2) stay-at-home parent looking for a release from housework; 3) a corporate executive who thinks they can do better for themselves; and 4) a serial entrepreneur that knows no other way to live.
It really doesn’t matter which sort you are, you can be a successful small business owner. I will be writing several blog posts in a series called “Starting Your own Small Business”. I will cover such issues as identifying customers, creating a value proposition, financial planning, business planning, differentiation, value proposition, obtaining references, creating systems, staffing, growth plans, corporate structure, book keeping and many other things you will need to consider. So stay tuned to posts on our site to get up to speed with everything you will need to start and run your small business.
