This Is The Real Reason Why You're Not Completing Your Goals

Everyone creates goals, some are daily goals, others are long-term goals but few people rarely complete all these goals. The reason? Multitasking.
January first, the start of the new year is traditionally when most people think about setting goals for the rest of the year. Many times, these goals are either fitness related or something to do with career and finances. Unfortunately, many people will fail at the goals they set for themselves.
Why is that? As a professional who has worked with many people over the years in terms of personal development and goal attainment it usually came down to a single issue: multitasking.
Unfortunately, many times my clients tried to do many things at once. Rather than a singular goal to focus upon, they created multiple goals or lists. They would begin to work on one goal and either get bored or come across an obstacle and revert to another goal without finishing the first one. This would go on and on until nothing was accomplished. On top of these goals that they would create for themselves, they also had to take care of daily household tasks and work related assignments, further draining their already taxed attention span like a vampire.
The truth of the matter is that multitasking is a myth. Don’t believe me…google it and you will see current neuroscience research confirms this hypothesis. The human attention span is simply not designed to move quickly back and forth between tasks and do it well. Our minds are better off focusing on one task and working through it to completion.
The next time you decide to do some goal building, consider creating just one goal and then breaking that one goal down to a few tasks that you can complete every day or every week. This way, you will move forward with far fewer distractions to occupy your mind.
If you find yourself unable to complete goals or coming up against too many obstacles and roadblocks, consider hiring a coach to help you form some clarity and keep you on track, to focus on that goal like a laser.
