WHAT IS SUCCESS?
For me it is being happy every day!
Over the years in the past I experienced happiness when something good or exciting happened, when there was money and success at work, when I purchased something new, when my children were born, when I was dressing up to go to a party or do something I loved and so on. However, my happiness was tied to an outcome, when x happened I was happy, and that did not last long.
Now I am at a place where no matter, I am happy and at peace. How, why? Because I chose to be so. Happiness is a choice, and I make that choice daily first thing in the morning. Creating an intention first thing in the morning, makes it so. As I practiced creating an intentional day, it has become a habit to do so and when I do, I love the way the day unfolds. Invariably as I intended it to. And, in this way I don’t have to wait for something to happen for me to be happy. I am happy and enjoying my life daily doing what I need to, being where I need to be, and taking care of my daily work and other responsibilities.
Happiness is contagious, people notice it and want to be with it, around it and want it for themselves. I notice when I stay happy the results of my personal and professional life are better than expected. It is not a show, it is happiness from the inside, true happiness or joy. The energy is light, laughter comes easily and I enjoy my life to the fullest. How amazing is that? Of course, there are times when life happens and I get off track, but I recover quickly and that is the key to success I feel. For me success is being happy every day! The more I practiced the more I stayed happy and it has become a way of life.
I just read what John Lennon said: “When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” I find this to be so incredibly powerful and true.
Too many people measure how successful they are by how much money they make or the people that they associate with.
How do you measure success?
