So Was My Car Accident The Wake Up Call I Needed??
Let’s start off by saying this is a true story of hope and determination that lead to my own self actualization and career as a life coach, executive coach, health & fitness coach, hypnotherapist and founder of Dr. Suggested health supplements.
I was injured in a car accident while on company business that would change everything! I had migraine headaches, dizziness, insomnia, pain, inflammation, muscle stiffness and even ringing in my ears all a result from whiplash caused by someone driving through a stop sign. The good news is that I worked hard to rehabilitate myself and was able to fully recover within 4 months. My rehabilitation process included countless visits to emergency outpatients, doctors visits, pain medications, physiotherapy, massage therapy, pool time, gym time, health supplements, many over the counter products, self hypnosis, NLP and countless hours of reassurance. I’m sure there was a whole lot more but you get the general idea for the purpose of this article.
My daily affirmation statement went something like this. “Each and every day in every way I’m getting better and better!” This was mentally repeated especially if I had any moments of self doubt and yes lets just say there were moments. The key I found was to limit the energy these negative thoughts have and to re-channel this energy where it’s needed most which is in creating balance and harmony. When you start creating balance of mind and spirit the body will be in a much better position to follow suit.
I must say it wasn’t easy especially when professionals tell you you’ll never be the same… The whole experience was very negative to say the least but I now believe this was the push I needed to become 100%! I refused to allow people to determine my reality and worked very hard to determine and shape my own future.
There was something that just kept telling me that I would fully recover and as time passed I felt more and more reassured as I made progress each and every day. Now feeling more determined just months later not yet fully recovered but full of this unexplainable desire I happened to see an ad in the local newspaper for office space. Can you guess what happened next?? I decided to visit the location and then with my savings decided to start up my own practice part time knowing that I would be ready to go back to work soon.
At this point I had no clients but it really felt good to put my energy into something constructive rather then just focusing on my current situation. A few weeks later I went back to work in my management position and at the same time ran an ad to see clients. Shortly after my ad was published I had the opportunity to work with a client at my newly setup office and it made me realize that this was my calling in life. I felt so confident in my abilities as I had already experienced such tremendous progress in my own situation that helping this client seemed almost second nature.
So as the months passed I was feeling even better at this point and starting to get busier in my own practice. I now had to make a very BIG decision… But should I leave a secure management position to see clients full time and so soon after my car accident? For me the answer was clear and that’s exactly what happened next.
I already had the know how and sufficient educational background to get started prior to my accident but I think at the time it felt so much easier to cling on to what was safe and known within my life. Luckily this traumatic event happened early in my life thus providing the wake up call I needed to achieve my goal of independence while doing something that makes me and others happy!
My point here is that you don’t need to wait for a traumatic event to occur before you start making changes that will positively shape your life. However if you are currently going through rough times or a similar event has happened to you then you need to know that there are ways to begin shaping your life now that will lead to a prosperous future.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. My passion is life coaching and I would be happy to work with you or someone close to you in need of self actualization or positive lifestyle improvement.
I’m a life coach, hypnotherapy master, executive director of the Caduceus Institute and the creator of the Dr. Suggested brand of health supplements. I enjoy seeing others healthy and happy as there’s much truth to the old saying smiles are contagious!
