Change takes time

It may be easier to invite and accept change if we take a few things into consideration.
As a people we’ve put men on the moon, created computers that fit in our hands and …yet we still struggle to change our minds and live healthier, more positive lives.
Two weeks ago the weather turned really cold and we talked about building a fire in the woodstove, but today it’s really hot again and short-sleeved shirts and iced drinks are in order. I can see yellow and red leaves on the trees across the meadow from my home office here, but fall hasn’t fully arrived. The season is trying to change from summer to fall, but it takes time and lots of effort.

Change takes time. Things, just like the leaves and weather, don’t change all at once. Learning to be patient may help us to move closer to our desired change.
Change happens in fits and starts. It’s like a mosaic. There are small changes, days with no changes and times when big changes occur. Get used to the idea that change happens on its own timeline and in its own way.
Change does happen. Be aware of the changes that come up and be ready to process and deal with them. This is where our ability to choose comes in play, too. Many will ignore or simply miss a change when it comes up. This is a choice. You can also choose to acknowledge and welcome the changes that you wanted in the first place anyway.
Be patient with yourself when you are hoping and planning for change. Give yourself credit when you are successful and try to understand what happened when you are less successful and create a new approach or perspective.
We are strong and capable as a people when it comes to technology and all of those things outside of ourselves. It takes a commitment and a clear intention to create and accept personal change, though.
