The Missing Link to Achieving Goals: Emotion
As a Transformational Coach for Men I have frequently experienced their struggle to know how they feel about what they do every day. Feeling has been as a silent partner in their decision making. It was simply not considered important to achieving the task. Logic, management, and follow through were the only required elements for success.
So, why have many of my clients experienced such low awareness of emotion during the decision making process? It simply has not been considered as important to achieving their goals. Logic overrules feeling in order to stay focused and on task.
The disconnect between emotion and action is one of the biggest reasons men are feel detached from their goals. When it comes down to change, we decide to change because we simply feel stuck, overwhelmed, un-empowered and afraid. The key word in that last sentence was FEEL. It is only when we create awareness around our feelings that we connect to what we know we need to do next.
What might life be like if we took a moment to connect how we feel with what we do? To consider how emotion might empower our choices rather than derail them?
I challenge you to think back to a time when you felt that your decision was simply the right choice. What did you need to know to ensure your choice would achieve your goal? If you considered how emotionally connected you were to the choice how did that impact the outcome?
I look forward to reading your thoughts on how empowering your decisions with emotion might propel you toward you goals.
