Thinking about career growth ? Student? Mid-level Manager? Need some career guidance book suggestions ? Here's gyanseekers essential 5 books to start.
5. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
The first step to any effective career success is to achieve financial freedom. Napoleon Hill’s book is a classic but more than a simple bible on how to get rich, the author emphasizes personal attributes that lead to success – desire, belief in your goals, study of successful people, use of autosuggestion as an effective tool of the subconscious mind, creating a “mastermind” group of successful leaders to emulate. He also catalogues quite convincingly the reasons why people fail. His conclusions are based on his research and personal interviews of the most successful men and women for decades, all of which makes for fascinating read. He probably predates the positive psychology movement in self-help using techniques like visualization and NLP. If you wish to motivate yourself to work to your best potential – to be financially free, or achieve any other goal, start with Napoleon Hill.
4. The 90 day Plan by Michael Watkins
If you are new to an organization, this is the one bible you need to ensure you start off successfully navigating your career journey. This is one of the best guides for newbies to corporate culture on how to spend the first 90 days and we have been known to recommend this as the starting point for all professionals, starting in a new job, transitioning to a new career role, or simply entering a different domain.
3. What Color is Your Parachute? by Richard Bolles
This is one of the best job/career guides out there taking a holistic view and provides you with a structured way of determining your talents, passion and interests. This is a great choice for students in high school or college deciding their future career paths and for those professionals who need to understand where to jump and what parachute to use!
