You will mess up! So have fun doing it.

Perfectionism can corner us into always losing. Let go of the perfect and enjoy what you do, regardless of the outcome.
Recently I heard from a woman on a book tour. She had set herself up to fail. She was going somewhere to connect with old friends and colleagues while promoting her new book. She shared with me that if she didn’t network or talk enough on this trip, it would be a failure. She simply wouldn’t have done her job. BUT, if she talked too much she would equally fail, because she would be seen as obnoxious, or full of herself of something…
The point is, no matter what she fails. So I said to her, “Since either way it’s a failure, just make sure you have fun doing it.”
Here’s the point boys and girls: We all mess up. Sometimes a little. Sometime a lot. Sometimes its catastrophic, and sometimes it is forgotten a couple of hours later. You can’t stop the mistakes. The hard times will come. You won’t always be the shining star. And sometimes you will be.
So do your best. Let go. And by God, make sure you are having fun!
