Career strategies for Women
Without a Career Coach…You’re just one of the Pack!
I work with women who aren’t satisfied with their current career and during our coaching sessions we usually explore 5 subjects that are common to all of them.
1. Are you clear on why you want to make a change?
Clarity is your ally. It gives you an edge over everyone.
Career transition doesn’t always mean a different employer. Often, there are unexplored opportunities where you are, where you have already established yourself.
Sometimes we get stuck in thinking that once we’ve been hired for a specific job, we can’t do something else within that company. False, opportunities are often there and could be explored.
If we were talking today, would you have clarity on your change?
2. How will you differentiate yourself from other job applicants?
Most of my coaching clients have been given an assessment at some point in their career and they can explain their results to me. Assessments are given by an employer to identify personality traits that they consider most important to their culture or job position (though, this is an inaccurate measure of fit within an organization.) I look at assessments differently. I see them as a tool that help my client articulate how they can benefit the company. It gives inherent traits, learned traits and outstanding probability of success in a specific career field.
If we were talking today, would you be able to articulate your strengths?
3. Do you know what career field you want to transition to?
What’s driving you into a particular field, or do you know? Discovering opportunities can be a fun process that can open your eyes to possibilities you haven’t considered before.
Do you know which careers you are more suited to?
4. How prepared are you to make the transition…how firm is your foundation?
Being prepared for a career transition is hugely important. Without the right preparation you may make the transition too soon, which can delay your progress or place the transition out of reach. Here is a fun worksheet that will help you with your personal foundation.

5. What’s your Strategy?
There is NO getting to your goal without a strategy. A strategy is a measurable series of steps that move you progressively closer to the goal. Make sure that you have one in place.
Having a career coach gives you laser-like focus on what you’re trying to accomplish. Clarity, Goal and Strategy is what it’s all about.
