What Kind of Leader Are You?

The type of leader you are solely depends on you and what you're willing to do. Are you willing to go that extra mile?
Winston Churchill said, “Never, Never, Never Give up!”
Perseverance. Determination. Tenacity. These are all excellent qualities of a leader.
But, how you show up; how you determine to present yourself-authentically, intentionally, impeccably, energized and fully engaged in the moment-these are the core characteristics of a true leader. These are excellent qualities to emulate.
Authentically being all we’re called to be, fully living in that calling is an indicator of a true leader. How you determine to present yourself, or “show up,” is the true indicator of a good leader.
Studies show that higher levels of awareness are associated with higher levels of success in life. A true leader shows up by first doing some internal housekeeping. Housekeeping can come in many forms-through assessments, education, reading, self-help tools, classes, or seeking mentoring, coaching or counseling. But, a true leader knows himself, does the necessary work to get his house in order, to address negative patterns or old baggage or simply get in touch with who he is, and thus shows up ready to present himself.
Who is a leader? Everyone is a leader-either by choice or default, by determination or by situation. Certainly, everyone is capable of leading. What kind of leader you will be is a personal choice.
Awareness, understanding, knowledge, motivation, experience, intention-all of these can enhance the role of a leader. To determine to present yourself acutely aware of who you are and content with who you are, you are then prepared to lead with excellence.
A true leader has an obligation, not only to self, but to those he touches. A true leader shows up ready for interaction- prepared, authentic, and fully ready to engage in the moment, in order that others might respond to true information; to your true self. This presence, or state of being, further elevates you to a higher level of leadership, raising the bar for others to perform to their true calling, and launching you to achieve higher results in your personal endeavors and in your organizational settings.
Impeccable in word and thought, a true leader is immediately readable and understood. For he is genuine. This level of acuity, again, comes with intentional action and thought, with determination to know who you are and who you want to show up as in this world.
The beauty of this is that you are in control. You have the choice to determine what kind of leader you are going to be today, right now, before any external situation places you into a leadership role.
Are you willing to take a good look at yourself and truly understand who you are, how you got there, what external influences shaped you; confront those stories and clean house until you are the leader you were called to be, the leader you intend to be, the leader you are proud to be?
It’s a choice. An intentional decision will yield excellent results. Determine now to do your housekeeping. You will reflect your true self, you leadership strength will naturally come out and you will be ready to lead with strength in any situation.
What kind of leader do you want to be? The choice is yours.
